In February, Hands on Labour completed another retail shopfitting installation project in Melbourne, Victoria, supporting the transformation of a well-known retail store. This marked the fifth time our team has installed fixtures for the same retail store, reinforcing the trust built between our team, the client and the project stakeholders over time.
From early planning stages through to final handover, the project required careful coordination, detailed logistics planning and precise installation work to ensure the retail space could be delivered ready for the next stage of store operations.
Planning and Site Preparation
Before any installation work began, our project manager conducted multiple site visits alongside the client to review access conditions, confirm the installation scope and organise the logistics required for the project. These early assessments play an important role in ensuring that shopfitting installations run smoothly, particularly in busy retail environments where time and access restrictions can affect the project timeline.
Through these visits, the team was able to prepare the workflow, coordinate delivery schedules and confirm the safest and most efficient approach to both dismantling and installation phases.

Dismantling and Fixture Removal
The first stage of the project involved the dismantling and removal of the existing store fixtures. Over the course of approximately one and a half days, the Hands on Labour team carefully disassembled 23 fixtures that were being replaced as part of the store upgrade.
All materials were removed safely from the site and transported by our team for disposal at the appropriate facility. Throughout this process, maintaining a clean and organised work environment was essential, particularly within an active commercial setting. Our team ensured that the site remained tidy and safe during every stage of the dismantling work.

Installation of New Retail Fixtures
Following the removal phase, the installation stage took place over five days. During this period, the Hands on Labour team managed the unloading and installation of 27 new retail fixtures, while also relocating 15 existing fixtures as part of the updated store layout.
Precision and coordination were key throughout the installation process. Each fixture was positioned and assembled according to the project specifications to ensure stability, alignment and visual consistency across the retail space. At every stage of the work, our team maintained a clean and organised site, allowing the project to progress efficiently and safely.

Final Handover and Project Completion
At the completion of the installation, our project manager and installation team remained on site to review the final result and ensure the project met the agreed plans and specifications. This final stage included compliance checks and any necessary adjustments requested by the client.
By the time the project reached handover, the retail space had been fully prepared, with all fixtures installed and the site cleaned, allowing the client to move directly into the merchandising phase without delay.
