Hands On was once again part of the Melbourne Motor Show 2026, supporting the installation and preparation of one of the largest automotive events in Victoria.
Having already contributed to previous editions, our team returned this year to support multiple builders and clients across different areas of the event. Projects like this highlight not only the scale of exhibition builds in Melbourne, but also the importance of experienced teams capable of delivering consistent results year after year.
Supporting Multiple Clients and Builders
For the 2026 edition of the Melbourne Motor Show, Hands on worked across three different clients, providing installation support throughout the event setup.
Our team assisted in the construction of multiple custom-built exhibition stands, working alongside exhibition builders to deliver high-quality installations aligned with each client’s specifications. Supporting multiple builders within the same event requires flexibility, coordination and a strong understanding of how large-scale exhibitions operate.
With different stand designs, timelines and technical requirements, our installers worked closely with the builders to ensure each stand was completed efficiently and ready for handover.
Large-Scale Carpet Installation
One of the key stages of the event setup involved flooring installation across all the exhibition space. Hands on supported the project with the installation of approximately 16,000 carpet tiles, helping prepare the show floor for stand construction and vehicle display areas.
Carpet installation plays a critical role in exhibition environments, as it sets the foundation for all other build activities. Completing this work within tight bump-in schedules requires experienced teams who can work efficiently while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Managing Teams on Site
Delivering a project of this scale requires more than just labour — it requires structure and leadership on site.
For the Melbourne Motor Show 2026, Hands on Labour supported the event with one project manager and six supervisors, coordinating a workforce of more than 40 staff members throughout the installation phase.
Managing multiple teams across different zones of the venue requires clear communication and strong coordination. Our supervisors worked closely with both the builders and the installation teams to ensure the project progressed according to schedule, while maintaining safety and quality standards across all areas.
